Garlic, cigarettes and other culprits create bad breath.

The strong smell of food can ruin your breath without the help of bacteria. According to a report by the Academy of General Dentistry (Academy of General Dentistry), onion and garlic can stay in your breath for 72 hours after a meal. Coffee and cigarettes are also known for its persistent odor. The recent popularity of high-protein diets has caused some people to experience another cause of bad breath related to diet. The high-protein diets tend to limit the amount of carbohydrates you can eat. When your body does not receive enough carbohydrates to use as an energy source immediately, then begins to break down fat and other tissues. This frees up in his body byproducts known as ketones. The elevation of ketones can produce "breath of ketoacidosis," which some have described as a combination of nail polish and pineapples past! (Ketones can also be lodged with the encouragement of people who are at very low calorie diets and in patients with poorly controlled diabetes.) Other causes of bad breath include periodontal diseases, respiratory infections, sinusitis, bronchitis and diabetes. Contrary to what many believe (and propagandistic claims of certain products) are rarely bad breath comes from the stomach.
