Menopause may influence the gum diseases.

It has been seen recently that there may be a relationship between changes in bone metabolism up to menopause and periodontitis. In menopause is a marked decrease of certain hormones called estrogen coming to trigger states of osteoporosis. Although periodontal disease is a metabolic bone disease but an infectious, the possibility exists that a bone of "quality" small is more susceptible to destruction caused by bacteria and thus in menopause predisposition to this disease emphasis. On the other hand, has shown that postmenopausal women with healthy teeth chewing and normal osteoporosis suffer less degree of that desdentadas. Yes we believe that the most common cause of tooth loss in adults is periodontal disease, periodontal achieve good health for women is a guarantee that when you reach menopause will not see reduced their quality of life for osteoporosis.
